Production Gallery

Dual standard HD/SD Sony MVS-8000G digital Vision Mixer, with built in multichannel DME, comprehensive frame memory and clip storage. Up and down converters can be implemented to provide an environment with mixed HD and SD feeds.  The facility of a second Vision Mixer desk can be provided when necessary.

The monitor stack shows previews of all mixer sources, whilst under-monitor displays provide source detail and tally information.   ISO feeds of sources to VT record machines are switchable either by the vision mixer or director, and a Green Tally interface system ensures that all cameras are aware of their use on ISO feeds at all times.

Comprehensive talkback facilities are provided, with presenter switched talkback and pre-hear facilities at all Panels, enabling directors and producers to talk individually to presenters.

Fountain Studios provide a Technical Manager who has a position in the Production Gallery.  They are there to ensure the smooth running of all technical aspects of the Production.

Sound Control

The control room is fitted with a Calrec Apollo assignable digital console.  It has 72 faders with up to 12 layers giving tremendous control and flexibility.  The Hydra 2 DSP facilitates fibre interconnections to the studio wall boxes and floors pods. 

This is complimented by full 5.1 audio facilities with integrated Dolby monitoring.

The grams position has access to two Spot-On multi channel play-in PC’s and the usual DAT machines and CD players. The adjacent room is configurable as a voice-over booth.

MCR

Fountain Studios has permanent Vision and Audio circuits to and from BT Tower (1 x HD/SD in-coming and 2 x HD/SD out-going), which also includes four channels of audio in each direction as well as well as ISDN lines for communication.  DEL’s are available as well as access to Broadband.

Fountain has a permanent 1MW standby generator with mains synchronisation.

Cameras

Our control rooms have the capability of working with up to 14 cameras depending upon requirements, comprising Sony HDC-1500 cameras which can be used in either the lightweight/hand-held mode, or in a build up frame for use with pedestals and large studio lenses.

The studio cameras are on Fulmar Pedestals, and additional Hawk/Teals are available as required.  A wide range of tripods and other mounts are available on request.

Lighting

The Fountain grid contains a hoist system designed to provide the height and flexibility for the massive floor space. The lighting grid is pre-rigged in accordance with the lighting directors plans and then ‘fine lit’ after set construction. Each studio contains 76-barrel hoists (S.W.L 180Kgs) backed up by a good supply of 2 and 4 spring pantographs giving any production excellent access and scope. Follow-spots can be mounted on gantries or platforms. The Studio also stocks a wide range of standard and specialized lamps.                                   

The lighting and vision control room is equipped with a Congo console; there is also a remote controller on the floor. This combined with full radio talkback gives the lighting director the freedom of working from the studio floor or the control room.   Follow spot operators have their own talkback system with the LD.

There is adequate power on the gantry and the floor for all needs, from moving lights to video screens.

VTR

Fountain will record onto HDCam (or DigiBeta), viewing copies on either DVD or VHS can be made at the same time.  An HD EVS with up to 6 channels is available as is the option of machine to machine editing.

Tape stock can be provided by the Client, or in-house whichever is preferred.
